Caritas College of Pharmacy Becomes Kerala's First Green Campus

Kottayam: Caritas College of Pharmacy has set a new benchmark in environmental sustainability in the higher education sector of Kerala. By achieving a 'Net Zero Energy Campus', the college has become the first 'Green College' in Central Kerala. Rev. Fr. Stephen Thevarparampil, Joint Director of Caritas Hospital, inaugurated this new project at Caritas College of Pharmacy. He was joined by the college's Principal, Prof. Dr. Sajan Jose, Vice Principal Dr. Cinu Thomas A, and Administrator and Professor Dr. Sr. N A Aleykutty.

The college now generates all the electricity required for its operations through its own solar power plant, actively contributing to environmental conservation. The 50 kW solar power plant is the driving force behind this achievement. Experts believe this will serve as a model for educational institutions across Kerala.

By decreasing the reliance on fossil fuels, which contribute to global warming, the college is taking a significant step towards mitigating climate change.

"This achievement is not just a milestone for the college but also a testament to the overall progress of society. It reaffirms our commitment to creating a sustainable world for future generations," said Rev. Dr. Binu Kunnath, Director of Caritas Hospital.
